Jennifer Crowder

Jennifer is very passionate about teaching reading and helping students find joy in reading.  She has been in education for 15 years.  She has a dual certification in NYS in Special Education and Elementary Education.  She has spent most of her time with middle school students, which is perfect, because she and middle schoolers share the same sense of humor! This is her third year teaching structured literacy and she is trained in Alphabetic Phonics, Barton and Wilson, all of which are Orton Gillingham programs.  She loves languages and studied Spanish in college, so teaching the science of the language is a perfect fit for her. Jennifer’s favorite thing about teaching, besides the students, is when students find joy in reading as opposed to seeing it as a chore.

In her personal life, Jennifer has a wonderful husband, six kids, and a much loved chocolate lab who is constantly up to something.  Her kids range from college to first grade, so there is constant activity.  She loves to spend time in the Adirondacks at their Camp where they hike, boat, and swim or play board games in the winter.  Her family favorite game is Settlers of Catan, and she hates losing so it gets intense!  She also loves football, Go Bills!
