Jennifer Crowder

I am very passionate about teaching reading and helping students find joy in reading.  I have been in education for 15 years.  I have a dual certification in NYS in Special Education and Elementary Education.  I have spent most of my time with middle school students, which is perfect, because middle schoolers and I have the same sense of humor! This is my third year teaching structured literacy and I am trained in Alphabetic Phonics, Barton and Wilson, all of which are Orton Gillingham programs.  I love languages and studied Spanish in college, so teaching the science of the language is a perfect fit for me. My favorite thing about teaching, besides the students, is when students find joy in reading as opposed to seeing it as a chore.

Personally, I have a wonderful husband, six kids, and a much loved chocolate lab who is constantly up to something.  My kids range from college to first grade, so there is constant activity.  I love to spend time in the Adirondacks at our Camp where we hike, boat, and swim or play board games in the winter.  Our family favorite game is Settlers of Catan, and I hate losing so it gets intense!  I also love football, Go Bills!
