Expanding sentences is a key skill students need to master to extend their individual sentence writing skills. We want students to move past simple sentences into more complex and detailed sentences. But, they won’t get there unless we explicitly teach them what we want. And why not make it into a game?
This resource includes differentiated gameplay working on expanding sentences. This product includes teaching posters for preteaching the concept of expanding sentences to ensure student understanding. Visual student bookmarks are also included to provide an additional scaffold during gameplay. Student-friendly directions will insure all students can access the materials independently during centers. For student accountability, two differentiated recording sheets are also provided. The sentence expansiont game also includes several variations and extensions to provide multiple practice opportunities for students of all ability levels.
