You Can Walk In Prepared, Even If You're Walking In Alone
A 1-hour consultation with a special education specialist to review your child's evaluations, coach you through what to ask for, and build your confidence before you attend your next meeting on your own.
If any of this sounds familiar...
- Have you ever left an IEP meeting agreeing to something you're still not sure was right for your child?
- Do you wish you had someone in your corner before you walk into that room, even if you're going in by yourself?
- Does it feel like the school knows more about the process than you do — and that's exactly the problem?
Inside Your Consultation
- A review of your child's evaluations and IEP or 504 draft, as time allows, so we understand what we're walking into.
- Coaching on exactly what to ask for, and how to say it in language schools respond to.
- A chance to practice and build your confidence before you're in the room.
- Someone who has sat on every side of that table — teacher, dyslexia specialist, and parent — in your corner beforehand.
What You Walk Away With
- A clear understanding of what your child's evaluations actually say
- A plan for what to ask for, and why
- The confidence to advocate for your child on your own
Note: this consultation is prep only — we won't be in the room with you. If you'd like us there too, see the option below.

Someone Who's Been on Every Side of the Table
As a certified special education teacher, certified dyslexia practitioner, and the owner of a tutoring practice that supports kids with learning disabilities, I've sat on every side of the special education meeting table. I'm a Wilson Certified Dyslexia Practitioner, certified at the Associate Level with the Orton-Gillingham Academy, and one year from completing my Clinical Certification.
Most of the frustration I see in these meetings comes down to one thing: miscommunication. My job is to close that gap — for your child.
— Heather O'Donnell
Questions? We've Got Answers
My child has dyslexia (or ADHD, autism, dysgraphia). Is this for us?
Yes. This consultation is for any parent preparing for an IEP or 504 meeting for a child with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, DLD, or autism.
Will you attend my meeting with me?
No — this consultation prepares you to attend on your own. If you'd like a specialist there with you, take a look at our 4-Hour Advocacy Package.
What if I need more than an hour?
This can be extended, or you can book the 4-Hour Advocacy Package instead, which includes full evaluation review and meeting attendance. Email us and we'll help you figure out what fits.
Are you a lawyer or legal advocate?
No. This is educational advocacy support, not legal representation. For legal advice regarding special education law, please consult a licensed attorney.
Do I need to bring anything?
Your child's most recent evaluations and IEP or 504 draft, if you have them, so we can make the most of our hour.
I already took How to Speak IEP — do I need this too?
No, not necessarily. The workshop stands on its own. This consultation is for parents who want 1:1 coaching specific to their child's situation before a meeting.
What happens after our consultation?
You'll walk in with a clear plan for what to ask for, and the confidence to advocate for it — on your own.
How do I get started?
Book your consultation below, and send us your child's evaluations and meeting date ahead of time so we can prepare.
